At Unified Exercise Clinic varied equipment is used for strength training including free weights (dumbbells), barbells, cable machines and body weight.
Strength training causes the muscle to contract increasing muscle strength in response to a weight or force. Many physiological changes take place within the muscle for this to occur such as ; muscle fibre type conversions, an increase in the cross sectional area of muscle and an increase in muscle activation. There are four different types of traditional strength training; Endurance, Strength, Hypertrophy and Power. Each type of training protocol is achieved via a combination of specific repetitions, sets, load, volume and rest.
